Our MissionThe Missouri Valley Division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs is dedicated to supporting the professional development of it’s members through educational, leadership and networking opportunities while serving as liaison between state chief’s organizations and the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
HistoryThe Missouri Valley Division (formerly the Missouri Valley Association of Fire Chiefs) is a division of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and is made up of the states of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wyoming. The first annual convention of the Missouri Valley Association of Fire Chiefs was held at the Hotel Paxton, June 17, 18, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska. Since that time, conventions have been held annually throughout the Midwestern states. In 2004 the Missouri Valley Association of Fire Chiefs changed its name to the Missouri Valley Division (MVD) of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), to better reflect the strategic alliance between the MVD and the IAFC. Membership is open to all paid and volunteer chief officers in these states. Currently membership of the MVD is approximately 960 Chief Officers.
